While interest centered on George Brett, who maintained his average at .404 with two hits in five trips, Hal McRae also stepped into the limelight, driving in four runs as the Royals defeated the Rangers, 7-3. Brett homered in the first inning and doubled in the fifth. McRae homered in both the first and fifth, hit a sacrifice fly in the seventh and added his fourth RBI with a single in the eighth.
