Bobby Brown, Bobby Murcer and Oscar Gamble drove in two runs apiece to power the Yankees to their sixth straight victory, 7-4 over the Angels. Gamble's 12th homer, with Brian Doyle aboard, gave the Yankees a 3-0 lead after three innings, but the Angels bounced back with two in the fifth on a homer by Bobby Grich and back-to-back doubles by Bobby Clark and Rck Miller.

The Yankees put the game out of reach in the bottom of the frame on RBI doubles by Brown and Murcer. The decision boosted New York's East Division lead over Baltimore to 3½ games. [The Sporting News]
