After the Sox went ahead, 6-5, in the seventh inning of the nightcap on a solo homer by Jim Morrison, pinch-hitter Steve Braun led off the bottom of the frame with a single and was replaced by pinch-runner Joe Cannon. Cannon reached second on a sacrifice by Ernie Whitt and scored on Bob Bailor's single.
