A four-run rally in the seventh inning lifted the Tigers to an 8-3 victory over the Orioles. With the game tied, 2-2, the Tigers' winning surge began with one-out singles by Al Cowens and Tom Brookens.

A double by Lou Whitaker scored Cowens and after Ricky Peters was intentionally walked, Alan Trammell drew a bases-loaded walk to force in Brookens. Tippy Martinez then replaced starter Steve Stone on the hill for the Orioles and was greeted by a two-run single by Steve Kemp. Kemp had hit a two-run homer in the sixth. [The Sporting News]
