The Expos swept a doubleheader from the Mets, winning, 5-3, in 11 innings and 4-2. The first game was decided when Warren Cromartie drew a walk and Larry Parrish followed with a homer. The Expos had deadlocked the contest in the seventh on a homer by Gary Carter, singles by Cromartie and Chris Speier and an RBI groundout by pinch-hitter Willie Montanez.

The second game was knotted, 2-2, when Cromartie began the ninth inning by reaching first base on an error by Mets shortstop Frank Taveras. He advanced to second on a sacrifice by Parrish and took third on an infield hit by Speier. Ron LeFlore ran for Speier and stole second. After pinch-hitter Montanez was walked to load the bases, Jerry White hit a chopper to third baseman Elliott Maddox, whose throw to the plate was dropped by catcher Butch Benton.
