A two-run double by John Milner in the fifth inning enabled the Pirates to edge the Mets, 4-3. The Pirates counted twice in the first on a single by Tim Foli, double by Dave Parker, sacrifice fly by Mike Easler and triple by Bill Madlock. The Mets bunched five of their 10 hits off Rick Rhoden for three runs in the third, but the Pirates came back in the fifth when Easler doubled, Madlock walked and both scored on Milner's two-bagger.
