Homers by Ed Ott and Bill Madlock highlighted a four-run fifth inning that helped the Pirates post a 9-4 victory over the Mets. Ott began the inning with a round-tripper and the second marker of the frame came on a double by John Candelaria and single by Omar Moreno. After Moreno was caught stealing, Phil Garner singled and Madlock climaxed the outburst with a two-run homer. [The Sporting News]
