A pinch-single by Jesus Figueroa broke a 2-2 tie in the sixth inning as the Cubs edged the Mets, 3-2, with Bruce Sutter recording his 27th save of the season. The score was 2-2 when Scot Thompson opened the Cubs' sixth with a single and was sacrificed to second. One out later, Figueroa slapped a single to right.
