A six-run rally in the sixth inning carried the Expos to a 7-1 triumph over the Pirates behind the three-hit pitching of Steve Rogers. Pittsburgh errors contributed heavily to the outburst. Rodney Scott led off with a walk, moved to second on a groundout and scored on a two-base error by third baseman Bill Madlock in handling a grounder by Andre Dawson.

Gary Carter followed with a double and, after an intentional walk to Warren Cromartie and two-run single by Larry Parrish, Bert Blyleven was derricked in favor of Enrique Romo. Chris Speier walked and two runs came in when second baseman Phil Garner erred on Rogers' grounder. Jerry White delivered the final marker of the frame with a single. [The Sporting News]
