. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Pirates kept their flickering flag hopes alive by beating the Cardinals, 6-3. The Bucs scored all their runs in the fourth inning. Phil Garner opened with a double, moved to third on a groundout and came home on a single by Bill Robinson.

Bill Madlock followed with another single and took second when the Cards tried unsuccessfully to get Robinson at third. Lee Lacy was given an intentional walk to load the bases and Dale Berra followed with a sacrifice fly. A single by Steve Nicosia reloaded the bases and Rick Rhoden drove in two more runs with a single. A two-run triple by Omar Moreno capped the outburst. [The Sporting News]
