A bases-loaded double by Bo Diaz in the eighth inning sparked the Indians to a 5-4 victory over the Orioles, who fell 5½ games behind the Yankees in the East Division race. After Joe Charboneau hit a two-run pinch-homer in the seventh to tie the score at 2-2, the Indians filled the sacks in the eighth on a single by Mike Hargrove, double by Gary Alexander and intentional pass to Toby Harrah. Diaz' double drove in two runs and Dell Alston followed with a single to register what proved to be the winning marker.
