Pounding out 15 hits, the Phillies routed the Cubs, 14-2, as rookie Marty Bystrom posted his fifth straight victory since joining the club September 1. The Phils scored four runs in the first inning on a pass to Pete Rose, single by Bake McBride, sacrifice fly by Mike Schmidt, pass to Del Unser, double by Keith Moreland and single by Larry Bowa.

A two-run single by McBride was the key blow in a four-run sixth. Rookie outfielder Orlando Isales tripled in his first major league at-bat and drove in two of the Phillies' four runs in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
