A four-run outburst in the second inning carried the Astros to a 5-2 victory over the Braves behind the six-hit pitching of Vern Ruhle. Terry Puhl then blooped a double off the glove of second baseman Glenn Hubbard to drive in three runs. Jose Cruz capped the rally with a single.
