Ken Singleton drove in four runs with four hits and Terry Crowley, Eddie Murray and Rich Dauer each clouted homers to lead the Orioles to a 12-8 victory over the Red Sox and spoil Johnny Pesky's debut as interim manager of Boston. The Orioles scored three runs in the first inning, one on a single by Singleton and two on a homer by Murray.

A three-run round-tripper by Crowley broke a 3-3 tie in the third. Dauer drilled a solo swat in the fourth and the Orioles locked up the contest with a five-run uprising in the fifth as Dan Graham and Doug DeCinces singled in runs and Singleton doubled home three tallies. [The Sporting News]
