A grand slam by relief pitcher Enrique Romo for his first major league homer and a two-run blow by Dave Parker highlighted a 16-hit attack that carried the Pirates to a 10-5 decision over the Mets. Parker's blast came in the first inning.

The Pirates were behind, 3-2, in the fourth but took the lead on run-scoring singles by Bill Robinson and Ed Ott. In the eighth, singles by Steve Nicosia, Omar Moreno and Tim Foli loaded the bases and set the stage for Romo's shot to right-center field. [The Sporting News]
