. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Phillies moved into a first-place tie with the Expos in the East Division by beating the Cubs, 4-2. Mike Schmidt slammed his 46th homer of the season for the Phillies in the fourth inning. The game was tied, 1-1, in the seventh when Del Unser drilled a leadoff double and Keith Moreland followed with an RBI single. The Phils picked up two more runs in the eighth on an error by Cubs third baseman Steve Dillard and run-scoring single by Greg Gross. [The Sporting News]
