Jesse Jefferson made his first appearance with the Pirates since being obtained from the Blue Jays and pitched 6 2/3 innings to get credit for a 3-1 victory over the Cubs, After Kent Tekulve replaced Jefferson and gave up a bases-loading hit, John Candelaria made his first relief appearance of the season and pitched 2 1/3 innings to earn the save.
