A homer by Gary Roenicke in the 13th inning gave the Orioles a 3-2 victory in the opener of a twi-night doubleheader before they lost the second game to the Indians, 6-4. The victory was empty for the defending champion Orioles, who had to surrender the East Division crown to the Yankees. The Indians' big blow in the nightcap was a two-run homer by Ron Hassey in the fifth inning. [The Sporting News]
