After the Phils snapped a 1-1 tie in the top of the ninth on an RBI single by Keith Moreland, Dave Collins ignited the winning rally with a two-bagger and scored on a single by Ken Griffey.

After Ron Reed replaced Sparky Lyle on the mound for the Phils, Griffey then stole second and took third on a throwing error by Moreland.
