Racing to their fifth straight victory, the A's shaded the Angels, 3-2, with a two-run homer by Tony Armas the big blow. After the Angels broke a 1-1 tie in the bottom of the seventh inning on a bases-loaded walk, the A's struck back in the top of the eighth.

Rickey Henderson opened with a walk and moved to second on an errant pickoff attempt. The next two batters were retired, but Armas then ripped the ball to deep center field for the game-winning hit. [The Sporting News]
