Opening their home season in 39-degree temperature, the Expos staged a two-run rally in the eighth inning to edge the Cubs, 5-4. The Expos trailed, 4-3, going into the bottom of the eighth when Rodney Scott drew a one-out walk, stole second and scored on a single by Andre Dawson.

Dawson raced to third on an errant pickoff attempt by Dick Tidrow before Gary Carter blooped a single to right-center field for the winning blow. A pair of Chicago errors helped the Expos get three runs in the second stanza. [The Sporting News]
