A three-run outburst in the top of the ninth inning carried the Indians to a 4-1 triumph over the Royals. The game was tied, 1-1, when Tob Harrah began the top of the ninth with a walk and scored on a double by Bo Diaz, who was thrown out trying to stretch the hit into a triple.

Rick Manning then walked, stole second, reached third on a groundout and came in on a double by Alan Bannister. Jorge Orta followed with another two-bagger to cap the rally. [The Sporting News]
