The Redbirds took a 1-0 lead in the first inning when Garry Templeton and Tony Scott singled and Keith Hernandez grounded into a double play. Tommy Herr lashed a two-run triple in the second stanza, giving him three triples and eight RBIs in the last three games and 11 for the season, tops in the league.
