Extending their winning streak to five games, the Braves defeated the Giants, 7-1, behind Bob Walk's first victory in an Atlanta uniform. The game was tied, 1-1, when Dale Murphy led off the seventh inning with a double and scored on a single by Bruce Benedict. Atlanta put the contest on ice with five runs in the ninth on two errors, two walks and three hits, including run-scoring singles by Biff Pocoroba and Jerry Royster. [The Sporting News]
