The first hit of the season by Bob Molinaro, a two-run triple, capped a three-run rally in the seventh inning that lifted the White Sox to a 5-4 triumph over the Tigers. The Sox, trailing 4-2 going into the seventh, loaded the bases on a walk, single by Lamar Johnson and a hit batsman. Kevin Saucier relieved Milt Wilcox on the mound for the Tigers and struck out Harold Baines, but pinch-hitter Carlton Fisk delivered a sacrifice fly and Molinaro then lined a three-bagger to right field.
