The Expos extended their winning streak to six games by sweeping a doubleheader from the Mets, 8-4 and 7-6. The Expos jumped to a 3-0 lead in the first inning of the opener on a two-run homer by Ellis Valentine and an error by Mets' center fielder Lee Mazzilli on Gary Carter's triple. Carter also cracked a two-run homer in the third stanza.

Montreal tallied two runs in the first inning of the second game on a sacrifice fly by Jerry Manuel and solo homer by Andre Dawson. Manuel collected his first major league round-tripper in the seventh inning, a three-run shot that followed a single by Bobby Ramos and a walk to Tim Raines.
