. . . where the 1970s live forever!

A three-run outburst in the bottom of the ninth inning enabled the Indians to shade the Rangers, 4-3. The Tribe trailed, 3-1, when Bo Diaz drew a leadoff walk and was replaced by pinch-runner Jerry Dybzinski. After Rick Manning also walked, John Henry Johnson replaced Jim Kern on the mound for Texas and retired pinch-hitter Miguel Dilone.

But Alan Bannister got a bloop single that scored Dybzinski and sent Manning to third. A sacrifice fly by Jorge Orta scored Manning and Bannister reached second on the play at the plate. Mike Hargrove then singled home Bannister to win the game. [The Sporting News]
