Tim Hosley helped the A's to a 5-4 victory over the Angels by greeting reliever Andy Hassler with a three-run pinch-homer in the seventh inning. Mike Norris won for the fifth time in as many starts, surrendering only five hits. The A's again were involved in an intersquad tussle; after a homer by Dan Ford, A's catcher Mike Heath questioned the legality of the bat and when he offered it to the umpire for inspection the benches emptied.
