The Indians won their fourth straight and ninth in the last 10 as Len Barker scattered seven hits and second baseman Duane Kuiper -- starting his first game since last June 1 -- slapped two hits in a 3-1 triumph over the White Sox. Kuiper singled and eventually scored on Rick Manning's groundout for the Indians' first run in the third inning.
