. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Effective relief pitching by Jesse Jefferson and Don Aase enabled the Angels to prevail over the Yankees, 6-2. Jefferson, coming on in relief in the first inning when Angels starter Bill Travers departed with tendinitis after walking leadoff batter Willie Randolph on four pitches, hurled 6 2/3 innings and was charged with only one run before Aase came on to get the last seven outs.

The Angels scored three times in the fourth inning on a two-run single by Don Baylor and run-scoring single by Bobby Grich. Baylor had an RBI infield single in the fifth, Rick Burleson doubled home another marker in the sixth, and Brian Downing drilled a solo homer in the seventh. [The Sporting News]
