Bert Blyleven pitched eight innings of no-hit ball before yielding two hits and a run in the ninth inning as the Indians defeated the Blue Jays, 4-1. The bid for a no-hitter ended when Lloyd Moseby lined the first pitch of the ninth frame for a two-bagger and George Bell followed with a pinch-single to drive in a run.

The Tribe took advantage of Toronto errors in the third canto to score three runs. The first run came when right fielder Barry Bonnell made an overthrow to the plate and the other two runs registered when third baseman Danny Ainge permitted a grounder to get past him. [The Sporting News]
