Lambasting three Montreal pitchers for 19 hits, the Padres enjoyed a 13-5 rout of the Expos. The Padres began with a four-run outburst in the first inning on a run-scoring single by Terry Kennedy and three-run homer by Broderick Perkins, and added three more runs in the fifth on an RBI single by Ruppert Jones, run-scoring double by Perkins and RBI single by Luis Salazar.

Jones doubled home two more tallies in the sixth and Joe Lefebvre singled home another pair in the same frame. Mike Gates, Tim Raines and Tim Wallach lashed three consecutive triples in the bottom of the ninth to tie the league record. [The Sporting News]
