The Redbirds scored two runs in the third inning on a double by Gene Tenace, triple by Garry Templeton and double by Tony Scott. They added two more in the fourth on a two-run triple by Tommy Herr and picked up their final marker in the fifth when Templeton doubled, moved to third on a groundout and came in on a sacrifice fly by Sixto Lezcano.
