The Orioles swept a doubleheader from the Rangers, unleashing a 14-hit attack to win the opener, 7-3, and capturing the nightcap, 4-2. The Birds took a 1-0 lead in the second inning of the first game on a homer by Dan Graham and made it 3-0 in the fourth on a two-run single by Gary Roenicke. They added another pair in the sixth on a run-scoring single by Lenn Sakata and RBI groundout by Wayne Krenchicki, and two more in the ninth on run-scoring singles by Ken Singleton and Graham.

Steve Stone yielded just one hit in six innings in the second game before leaving because of stiffness in his elbow. Terry Crowley broke a 1-1 tie in the fourth frame with an RBI single and Sakata stroked a run-scoring single in the fifth. An RBI double by Mark Belanger made it 3-0 in the seventh and Doug DeCinces drove in Baltimore's final run with a sacrifice fly in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
