Escaping a rundown play with two out in the top of the 10th inning, Jorge Orta raced home with the winning run as the Indians shaded the Twins, 2-1. After the Twins tied the game at 1-1 in the bottom of the ninth on back-to-back triples by John Castino and Mickey Hatcher, Orta opened the 10th with a single and advanced to second on a sacrifice by Mike Hargrove.

Don Cooper then relieved Pete Redfern on the hill for the Twins and struck out Andre Thornton. Pinch-hitter Miguel Dilone beat out an infield hit. Orta raced around third base on the play but pulled up 10 feet short of home when he saw catcher Sal Butera with the ball. In the ensuing rundown, shortstop Chuck Baker flipped the ball toward the plate but nobody was there to handle it and Orta scored. [The Sporting News]
