. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Performing ninth-inning heroics for the second consecutive night, Tom Paciorek hit a two-out, three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Mariners a 6-5 triumph over the Yankees. The Mariners trailed, 5-3, with one out in the bottom of the ninth, when pinch-hitter Dan Meyer and Julio Cruz singled.

One out later, Paciorek drilled a 2-1 pitch into the stands to give new manager Rene Lachemann his fourth straight victory without a defeat. Reggie Jackson had tied the game with a two-run double in the sixth and put the Yankees ahead, 5-3, with a two-run homer in the eighth. [The Sporting News]
