. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Cardinals drubbed the Pirates, 13-0, but it was a pyrrhic victory as Andy Rincon, who had pitched three-hit ball for 7 2/3 innings and contributed to the 14-hit attack with two hits and three RBIs, suffered a hairline fracture on his right forearm when struck by a line drive off the bat of Phil Garner and was placed on the 21-day disabled list. The Redbirds took a 5-0 lead in the first inning on run-scoring singles by George Hendrick and Ken Oberkfell and a three-run double by Tommy Herr. [The Sporting News]
