Helped by Baltimore misplays, the Rangers scored five runs in the second inning en route to a 7-3 triumph over the Orioles. The Rangers loaded the bases in the second on a double by Bill Stein, infield hit by Leon Roberts and single by Jim Sundberg. Stein scored the first run of the frame on a passed ball.

After an out, Mario Mendoza struck out but reached first on a wild pitch that allowed Roberts to score. Mendoza stole second and continued to third and Sundberg scored when catcher Dan Graham's throw bounced into center field. A triple by Bump Wills plated Mendoza and a single by Mickey Rivers drove in Wills. [The Sporting News]
