Lashing a homer, double and two singles and driving in three runs, Dave Parker paced the Pirates' 8-2 victory over the Cardinals. Parker belted a solo homer in the fourth inning, singled home a run in the seventh and delivered a run-scoring single in a three-run ninth.

The Bucs grabbed a 2-0 lead in the second on RBI singles by Phil Garner and John Candelaria. Candelaria allowed three hits before being forced to leave the game in the seventh inning after pulling a muscle in his left shoulder. [The Sporting News]
