Gary Allenson drove in five runs including the game-winner in the ninth inning, and Rick Miller tied a major league record with four doubles as the Red Sox outlasted the Blue Jays, 7-6. With two outs in the ninth and the score 6-6, Miller doubled and scored on a double by Allenson. The Jays had knotted the count in the seventh on a solo homer by Willie Upshaw.
