. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Although needing eighth-inning relief help, Matt Keough received credit for his sixth victory of the year as the A's edged the Yankees, 5-4. The A's tallied in the first inning on a balk and upped their margin to 2-0 in the second on a run-scoring double by Dave McKay.

Fred Stanley stroked an RBI single in the fourth frame and the A's scored twice in the fifth on a solo homer by Cliff Johnson and sacrifice fly by McKay. The Yanks rallied for four runs in the eighth, the outburst being capped by a two-run homer by Reggie Jackson before Bob Owchinko relieved and slammed the door. [The Sporting News]
