In his second start since being recalled from the minors, Doug Rau pitched five scoreless innings and recorded his first victory since May 11, 1979 as the Angels stopped the Orioles' winning streak at eight, 2-0. A homer by Dan Ford in the fourth inning and RBI single by Ed Ott in the seventh provided the Angels' runs. Don Aase picked up his fourth save, allowing only two hits in the last four innings.
