Two homers by Greg Luzinski paced the White Sox to a 9-5 victory over the Angels. Luzinski's first round-tripper gave the Pale Hose a 1-0 lead in the second inning and the big slugger connected for a three-run clout in the top of the ninth, offsetting the Angels' three-run outburst in the bottom of the eighth.

Britt Burns, yielding one run on three hits in five innings, was the winning pitcher but suffered stiffness in his back and was replaced by LaMarr Hoyt. Ed Farmer got the last out to record his fifth save. [The Sporting News]
