. . . where the 1970s live forever!

The Twins made Billy Gardner's managerial debut successful and ended an eight-game losing streak by blanking the Royals, 7-0, behind the six-hit hurling of Jerry Koosman. Gardner had replaced Johnny Goryl earlier in the day as pilot of Minnesota.

The Twins tallied twice in their first turn at bat on a sacrifice fly by John Castino and RBI double by Butch Wynegar. Castino cracked a two-run homer in the sixth stanza and Sal Butera smashed a bases-loaded triple in the ninth. [The Sporting News]
