Charlie Lea stretched his string of consecutive scoreless innings to 28 1/3 by hurling four-hit ball for seven innings before leaving the game because of a blister on his pitching hand, and the Expos had a pair of three-run innings to gain a 6-3 decision over the Cubs.

Singles by Gary Carter, Warren Cromartie and Tim Wallach filled the bases in the second inning and Chris Speier cleared the sacks with a double. The Expos added three more markers in the fifth on a leadoff homer by Andre Dawson, RBI double by Cromartie and run-scoring single by Wallach. [The Sporting News]
