. . . where the 1970s live forever!

Buddy Bell swatted two homers and Danny Darwin tossed a four-hitter to lead the Rangers to a 6-2 victory over the Mariners despite a triple play by Seattle. Bell gave Texas a 1-0 lead in the second inning with a solo shot and the Rangers erupted for four runs in the third when Bump Wills, Mickey Rivers and Al Oliver singled for one tally and Bell followed with a three-run blast.

The triple play came in the eighth inning. Johnny Grubb and Pat Putnam walked and were running on the first pitch to Mario Mendoza, who lined to shortstop Rick Auerbach. Auerbach stepped on second to double up Grubb and threw to first to catch Putnam off the bag for the third out. [The Sporting News]
