Vida Blue and Greg Minton combined on a five-hitter as the Giants edged the Astros, 2-1. Minton recorded his ninth save in 22 appearances. The Giants scored in their first turn at bat when Larry Herndon drew a two-out walk, stole second and tallied on a single by Milt May.
