Completing the three-game series sweep, the Rangers defeated the Mariners, 5-3. The game was tied, 3-3, when Mickey Rivers began the seventh inning with a single. Al Oliver then reached first on an error by second baseman Lenny Randle and both runners moved up on a wild pitch.
