Two-out singles by Tim Raines and Warren Cromartie in the seventh inning enabled the Expos to shade the Cardinals, 4-3. After the Redbirds had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the seventh on a two-run pinch-single by Dane Iorg, Jerry White began the bottom of the frame with a single and reached second on a sacrifice by Chris Speier.

Jim Kaat then replaced starter Silvio Martinez and, after getting one out, was tagged for the run-scoring singles by Raines and Cromartie. Elias Sosa relieved in the ninth with two runners on base and induced Sixto Lezcano to bounce into a game-ending double play. [The Sporting News]
