Completing the three-game series sweep, the Orioles edged the Yankees, 6-5, as Doug DeCinces continued his homer streak with a pair of two-run shots. DeCinces' blasts gave him six round-trippers in six games. The streak consisted of three two-homer games.

DeCinces' first homer came in the fourth and boosted the Orioles to a 3-0 lead. His second homer came in the sixth and gave the Birds a 5-2 margin. After the Yanks tied the contest in the eighth on a bases-loaded walk and a two-run single by Graig Nettles, the Orioles pushed across the winning marker in the ninth. Rich Dauer began the frame with a single and went to third on a single by Jim Dwyer. Bob Bonner ran for Dauer and the bases were filled when Eddie Murray received an intentional walk.
